While I won't go so far as to say it's exclusively for hammers, it IS less effective when paired with a bow than other weapons combos just by the very nature of the weapons. If you say ranger elites aren't 'made' for non-ranger weapons thats fine, certainly you'll also have to admit there are ranger skills which DO work better when paired with non ranger skills/weapons. The very nature of expertise SCREAMS 'please use me with secondary attribute lines and skills. None of these points negates the enjoyment one might get of playing a fun build, and you should. But from a pure efficiency of motion standpoint, the big IAS skills (especially high energy cost ones) work best with high damage/slower melee weapons. I personally still like a pure hammer ranger (no pet/beast mastery), and that's not 'the best' either. Never stopped me. But to argue that ranger skills have to be used essentially with ranger weapons (it's what you are saying) is like building a house on the san andreas fault with no earthquake insurance.
